Mountain Light
The inspiration for this poem arrived while sleeping on a hillside, above Zermatt, Switzerland. The temperature had creeped down to a fraction above freezing and when out of the sleeping bag, clothes could not be put on fast enough. It was bordering on the miserable level when in the distance the sun hit the Matterhorn. The morning chill was replaced by the sight of the radiant spectacle.

My Dog Died Today
When my son was seven years old, his dog died. He was obviously devastated so I wrote this poem in honor of his dog. He recited it at an all-school assembly and sent the audience into tears.

Sahara
This is a Romance/Adventure story that takes place in the city of London, England in the early 70’s. It has, of course, the romance but it is also a mini-travel tour of the city, since it is based on actual events and real people.

Starting Grid
In this poem I have tried to convey the wide range of emotions that take place on the starting grid of a road race. It does not matter if it is a go-cart race or a Grand Prix, the sensations are the same for all.

Streamers
This is a short story based on real people and real events. It is about three Army paratroopers who have taken a day off from the pressures of military life, to relax and unwind. Their idea of a relaxing day is to do exactly what they do in the Army, jump out of airplanes. The difference is, they are Jumping for fun and not being ordered to do so.

My Little Friend
My son and I were sitting in our treehouse, enjoying the morning when my son looked up and saw a little yellow bird above him. "Look, Dad, a pretty yellow bird." At that moment the bird dropped some of its waste on his shirt. I wrote this poem for him to recite at his school where it had the audience laughing hysterically.

CARL
This is a story about a late-stage Alzheimer patient, named Carl. It is one possible explanation as to what might be happening in the minds of these individuals.

Mountain Winter
This is a short poem about a crisp mountain morning in winter (Would make a great Christmas Card)

TheWreck of the Nellie Mason
While searching through my mothers belongings after she died, I found a journal from 1887 belonging to my grandfather Charles. It contained many adventures he experienced while serving with The United States Lifesaving Service on the Great Lakes. This story is one of those adventures.
